Shot on iPhone - "28 Years Later"

Well, the Danny Boyle film I've been talking about since late last year is now out and so if you can definitely see it on the big screen - not only to support theatrical releases - but to see how the iPhone looks. (SPOILER ALERT: The footage looks great!)
So if you didn't know, Danny Boyle who back in 2002 famously directed and shot "28 Days Later" using a prosumer video camera (Canon XL1) is now back with a sequel to that rage virus movie and this time he shot on iPhones.

Pictured above is the "bullet-time" setup using 20 iPhones and if you've seen the movie you know how those shots were used. If you haven't seen it, then I'll just say it's a unique way of showing "kills". I go over this and a lot more in the video below...
And since I made that video and the movie has been released we've learned even more about how they made it. And while the bulk of it was shot on iPhone, not all of it was. And so I go into more detail about that and then also share a review of the film...
And if you missed my original videos when we first learned that Danny Boyle was coming back and shooting a $75MM sequel on an iPhone (which oddly they've now publicly "lowered" the budget to $62MM), then check out these videos below too...
One of the best things I've noticed in the discourse of the movie since it's been released is that almost none of the reviewers have even mentioned it was shot on an iPhone (of course basically every filmmaker like me has mentioned it though, but the "regular movie reviewers" have not). I think that's a testament to how good the iPhone looks now (that no one notices it) along with the solid storytelling of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland.
So what do you think? Did you like the movie and would you shoot a movie on an iPhone now?
Let me know on YouTube or X, or Facebook and Instagram.
