New Apple Log 2 Film Look LUTs

Since the release of Apple Log in the iPhone 15 Pro we've been able to use that footage in very professional ways, actually very surprising ways considering it's shot on a phone. Today you can easily intercut Apple Log with high-end cinema cameras or of course shoot it as a standalone and get amazing results.

And now with the iPhone 17 Pro series we have Apple Log 2, which is even better than the original Apple Log. Although maybe not in the way you might think. The main difference is it has a wider color gamut, which essentially means it has a lot more color information and so it performs even better in post-production and color grading. Otherwise the two versions of Apple Log are still almost identical (same dynamic range, etc).

But that does mean that the conversion LUTs have changed.

Apple Log 2 Film Look LUTs

So I recently created Volume 2 of the Everyday LUTs and now I've created Volume 2 of the Film Look LUTs.

This new pack contains 8 Film Look LUTs for Apple Log 1 and 2 footage. These are designed to work with iPhone 15/16/17 Pro series devices (and that includes shooting ProRes RAW). The pack also includes film color only versions, two standard transform LUTs and a Bonus "Day4Night"LUT (27 total LUT options).

Note: This new pack is different from our original Vol.1 Film Look LUTs. Here you get specific LUTs for Apple Log 2 and the Apple Log 1 LUTs have been updated.

If you're interested in these new LUTs then you can learn more here and to celebrate the launch of this new pack (and the Everyday LUTs too) I've got all my Apple Log LUTs on sale... SAVE 20% for a limited time.

If you haven't shot Apple Log or Apple Log 2 yet you really should give it a try. As a reminder, it not only unlocks dynamic range, but importantly it turns off sharpening and dynamic tone mapping - and both of those things are not great for getting professional quality results.

Happy mobile filmmaking!

P.S. I also recently added a new updated mobile filmmaking course geared towards beginners wanting to shoot movies with their smartphone. So definitely check that out if you're interested.
